Governance document
Adopted by the board: 9 July 2026. Version 1.0. Norsk versjon: Norsk.
Batin builds software that protects people instead of harvesting them. We take privacy and dignity seriously in what we make, and we take it just as seriously in how we treat each other. This code states what we expect from everyone who takes part in Batin, and what happens when someone breaks those expectations.
This code applies to everyone involved in Batin's work: members, the board, employees, volunteers, contributors and guests. It applies in every space connected to the association: code repositories, discussion channels, mailing lists, meetings, events, and any situation where you represent Batin in public.
If you have experienced or witnessed a breach, report it to: conduct@bat1n.com.
All reports are handled confidentially. We do not reveal the identity of the person reporting without their consent, unless the law requires it. Where possible, a report should say what happened, where and when, who was involved, and whether there are witnesses or documentation.
You may report even if you are unsure whether something is a breach. It is better to ask than to let it go.
Reports are handled by the board. If a report concerns a board member, that person is kept out of the entire handling of the case (impartiality). When the board handles a case, it does so without undue delay and with the opportunity for the person complained about to be heard.
Possible responses, depending on severity:
For members, the association's own statutes on membership and exclusion also apply.
This code is inspired by the Contributor Covenant and the codes of conduct of related free software communities, adapted to Batin's purpose and values.
